Rain Ride: 05-10-10

Went on a longer-than-expected ride yesterday with Tommy and Manny. Original plan was only to climb up Cal State and back to Castro Valley then home from there. But we finished that part of the ride pretty fast and none of us had plans for the rest of the day.

Hanging out at Area Cycles we ran into Eric (San Leandro) and Redwood Rd. came up and it just so happens that he was planning to ride it today too. So we made the decision to ride to Berkeley since it doesnt seem like its gonna be raining hard at all.

WRONG! it started pouring on parts of the ride and I didnt bring my fender cause I did not plan for this. OH and Eric was not only climbing Redwood on a fixed gear, he was also running a big-boy gear @48x16. He never complained and never stopped. Made it all the way to the top. I now owe him a beer, promised him I'd buy him one if he does the whole thing. But he went his separate way getting into Skyline.
His choice was a damn good one. Cause the rain got even worse and it chose to rain the hardest on the way down. BIG ice cold raindrops hitting your face at fast speeds is not the business. Hurt so bad.

Looks like I just took a shower with my clothes on. Which is basically what happened. But it was nice to end it with some House of Curries and their hella good chai tea. One of the main reasons I love going to Berkeley. Also after we finish eating the sun finally decided to come out. Gave us a chance to dry up a bit before heading home.

Got home. Got ready. Worked for 5 hours. Then spent the rest of the night at Paddy's. The shop is currently 24 hours till June 11th for finals. But really it just gives us a place to hang out till the sun comes out and we need to go to sleep.
and here is the route we took: http://www.mapmyride.com/route/us/ca/hayward/483127353906781811
