The sweetness of doing nothing

Just to let all you know my 5+ year old laptop just died on me. I came home to it making this weird clicking noise and it wouldn't load to the desktop. According to forums and yahoo answers that it means my hard drive is dying. Hopefully my co worker can fix it cause I've become attached to it. But I think it's about time I go and grab myself a new laptop.

So sorry but this blog is gonna be a little bit more boring since I won't be able to upload pictures through this blogger app on my phone.

Anyways. Yesterday I decided to be nice and drop some flowers off to a friend of mine. I didn't really drop it off, just stuck it on her windshield wipers. It entertained me to have her think about who left it there cause everyone knows I don't do that kind of stuff. Then on my way home riding my bike, guess who pulls up next to me. Yupp she did and instantly she knew. Totally ruined my plan but I'm just glad I got put a smile on her face.

But on the way there I managed to fall on my bike! I was making a left trying to beat the yellow and I noticed that the pavement was wet, I still don't know if it was water or oil, but I knew I was going in a little too fast so I skidded to slow down. I thought that I would be okay since I've taken turns in the rain faster than the speed that I was going. But next thing I know my bike came out under me and I'm on the ground sliding on my hip and hands watching my bike slide in front of me. This also happened on a major intersection and I probably stopped traffic for a good 5 minutes. I think everyone was checking if I was okay or not. I got up shaking my head, picked up my bike and went to the corner to readjust and check everything on my bike. Fixed everything and and checked myself out to see how much damage I acquired. I came out of it with a minor sprained left wrist, opened up a scar on my right elbow, bruises on my knee and hip, and a iPhone shaped outline on my shorts with a few holes. But I must admit, the sliding part did feel pretty damn cool.

I still went on to finish my ride. Once I got home, instead of going out, I decided to stay in and do totally nothing. I made myself dinner and ended up watching a movie. But it's always funny that when you decide to do one thing the total opposite of that always presents itself to you.

When my friends and I want to go out we can't seem to find anything going on and when I decide to stay in a whole bunch of things pop up. I ended up leaving my house in the middle of the night and just hanging out in the rain.

Now I'm at work wondering about whats the 3rd bad thing that's going to happen. Bad things do happen in threes.

And sorry. I know how no one likes to read nowadays. But deal with it.

New Stuff Day

My sister got me this awesome Abbey Road Beatles poster! Thanks!
Then I got myself this new road bike frame! Thanks!
After meeting up with the seller who drove all the way down from Reno! Jeff and I went to grab some food and visit Kenji at Area Cycles.
See this sad bike.
but this ones a rad bike. Custom painted by Josh for Leader.
Justin came by in a bit and went to Ron's house to get a haircut. Check out the view from his front porch. Amazing. I would love to wake up to this everyday.
Had to head home cause Justin wanted to watch the Giants game while I went and got ready to go accompany my family to the Hayward City Hall. My brother was getting an award for getting a perfect score on the California Standardized Test.
There he is!
This is him and the only other person in his whole school to get a perfect score.
To celebrate we went to Buffalo Bills for dinner. I was feeling the whole halloween decor so I went and tried their Pumpkin Ale and man I felt like I was drinking juice. But at least the food was good.
Later on that night went and met up with an old friend. Had to talk and clear some things up. I really just wanted to see where she stands and how she feels on certain things. But I was really happy that we havent lost that connection that made us such good friends. It was really nice talking to you and Im glad we've both grown up and put the past behind us.

As much as it sucks not finding a job relating to my degree, all the free time that I have has not only given me a whole bunch of time alone but its given me the chance to patch up old mistakes, spend time with family, strengthen friendships, and meet new people. As bad as I want a job, I cant really complain.

Im even drawing again. I just finished my friend's possible tattoo.

Back to normal

After my week of fun everything is pretty much back to normal. It had to end sooner or later and I think that one week was just long enough to enjoy it but at the same time short enough to not get used to.

But when I said back to normal, I mean really back to normal. Still my bike never fails to make a normal day more interesting. My front tire decided to get a flat halfway to work and this front wheel is really hard to change a flat on. I think I got more of a workout changing that flat than I did the whole ride to work.
But for now 40 hours out of my week looks pretty much like this.
Decided to stop by Paddy's and guess who I caught!
Also a good friend of mine asked me to sketch/design a possible tattoo for her. Shes a Pisces and I suggested koi fishes surrounded by waves. I was pretty bored at work today and got the sudden urge to draw.

here is 1/2 of the drawing, but its coming along just the way I pictured it in my head. Hopefully the end result will turn out just the way I want it.

Playing House

I dont even know where to start. But this past week has definitely been weird but at the same time I can honestly say has been one of the better weeks Ive had this year. I mean its been exactly 7 days since Ive slept on my own bed. I cant discuss much about the details cause we both know the consequences we'll both have to deal with if people find out. Just gotta stick with our agreement that it never happened.

BUT before I erase this whole week from my head. I would just like to point out how much fun I had.
- Waking up with coffee and cookies next to the bed is one of the best things ever.
- Watching multiple episodes of How I Met Your Mother and introducing you to Dexter was a pleasure.
- Failing at finding a good spot to have a nice view of the bay but we still ended up talking in your car for hours even though you really needed to pee.
- Baking cookies and not having them turn out as good as we imagined (at least for the first night) and as each day went on they just seemed to get better and better.
- You turning off my alarm causing me to be 3 hours late to work!
- Finding out just the right combination of blankets so we wont be too hot or too cold.
- Usually when I sleep with someone we wake up always end up on opposite sides of the bed. But it was different with you, we always managed to wake up in the same position we fell asleep in and surprisingly my arm didn't fall asleep.
- Thanks to your wifi we killed many hours watching youtube videos that I still cant believe you have never seen! Have you been living under a rock?!
- That one time you clapped cause you were so impressed by the beatboxing japanese guy and when he said "merry christmas" in a thick japanese accent. That was really cute.
- Going to get Ramen but the stupid restaurant was closed on sundays.
- Then couple days later you go and get some... without me!
- The bottom of your falafel sandwich not holding up having you to eat it with a fork. haha
- Seeing a deer while trying to look for the stupid "top of the world" in Fremont.
- All the times you tried to tickle me but would instantly give up once I tried to get you back.
- Starting arguments for no reason just to spice things up and have a little fun.
- It was entertaining pretending to be mad at you and you spending hours trying to convince me to not be mad anymore.
- Getting some Jack in the Box for dinner. At first wanting fries and tacos but ended up with a burger, large fries, a large drink, stuffed jalapenos, those bacon wedge cut fries, tacos, and a funnel cake! haha
- How you made fun of me cause I set the mixer too low and all the dough got stuck even though I told you the bowl was too small and it was going to splatter everywhere if I set it any higher!
- Bringing my external harddrive to take some music from you but never getting to it.
- Waking up early in the morning but never getting up till I have to leave for work.
- Using onions as a metaphor for our current/past situations how were never satisfied with the ones on the front of the pile, the easy to get, but we keep digging for a better one and along the way causing the pile to fall and bruising a few onions and embarrassing ourselves along the way.
- Having an actual dinner, on an actual dinner table, at home.
- You painting while I draw, with music playing, going on for a couple hours and not one word said.

There are a whole bunch more but what I loved the most is how we can just lay there for hours and talk about anything and everything. Pretty much about where we are in this particular point in our life, including the past and leaving it there, excited but at the same time nervous about our future.

We came into this knowing we both dont want anything. That what we needed was just someone there, another body to keep us warm and make us feel wanted even after all the things we've been through and have put other people through. We have both been broken and have put up walls around us to protect us from getting hurt again. Have experienced enough to have control over our feelings to avoid attachment and I think that's what made this week work so well.

Too bad that Im not very good writing and sucks that this is the only picture I have from the week. But I know thats for the better. In 10 years we can look back at this and laugh. I totally agree when you said a week like this is exactly what you needed cause I needed it as much as you did. It was a lot of fun. Thanks again for letting me live at your house for the past week and I wish you luck in all your future endeavors.

But like we agreed on. This week never happened. haha

Thursday

Just want to write about me and Jeff's ride to Berkeley a couple days back. Prolly the longest ride Ive done in a while. But I had no apparent reason to ride out there but to just grab something to eat. I couldnt decide between top dog, gypsys, or some curry. But on the way there the final winner was House of Curries.

This place never disappoints.
During our meal, my friend Alan rode by to hang out for a bit. We got to catch up and talk about old times riding, especially how much fun last summer was. Then after that Jeff and I rode up to Indian Rock.

This place is pretty cool. You can see 3 bridges from the rock. The Golden Gate, Bay Bridge, and the one bridge that takes you to Richmond.

It started raining on us and luckily our friend Mike was in the area with his girlfriend, which happens to be my friend's younger sister and I had a class with her older sister. Small world! But Mike ended up giving us a ride home.
Then later that night went to Sabor. Havent been there in a while but Ruel is back in the bay, Jay went back after a brief hiatus, and a whole bunch of my other friends went. Definitely a fun day and night.

Update

Havent had the chance to update this thing since I got back from NY. Been working everyday since and hanging out the rest of the nights. Ive just been trying to get my old legs back so Ive been riding a lot and riding hard too. This past week alone Ive felt a big improvement.
But other than work and bikes Im still here looking for a job. I hope I find one soon cause its starting to really hit me. I didnt work that hard in school to end up unemployed. Hopefully this little fortune I got last night will come true.

New York 2010

Spent all last week in the Big Apple. Erica and Ryan asked me to go with them on their trip out there and I couldnt say no. But I had to go there a day before they did because I promised my friend Janelle that I was going to visit her out there and the day Ryan, Erica, and I were suppose to get there Janelle was going to be coming back to the Bay Area because her Pastry Chef program ended.

So here are some pictures from the trip. I didnt take as much as I should have but I was just so occupied trying to take everything in and other people had their cameras so it was just kind of redundant to take pictures multiple times. Once other pictures surface Ill try and get those on here too.

First thing I see out of the subway.

Then came home to this.
This trip was very fun! Other than the excessive walking and lack of sleep this trip went so smooth. I had no plans and no expectations. The weather was perfect except for the last night where it rained but I was glad I got to experience that too. I definitely want to come back sometime soon and hopefully I can bring my bike and ride around so we didnt have to rely so much on the subway and taxis to get around. Also that way our feet wouldnt be so tired. Till next time!
