Philippines: Day 11

Waking up to the beach right outside of your door and BBQ on the grill is pretty damn nice. Since our family decided not to make our planned trip to Boracay this will have to do, but I am not complaining one bit. I actually really liked this place. Since school is in season in the Philippines and other than the few locals living there, we pretty much had the whole island to ourselves. Also we get to use the extra money well have to give to our relatives that can use the help.

After breakfast we decided to go on an adventure around the island.

There was this blue swordfish looking like fish in there.

We ended up here. Its suppose to be a cave but cause of the earthquakes throughout the years, the entrance got covered. But it still makes for a good swimming spot.

We explored on the other side of the island but I wasnt able to take my camera cause you have to do some swimming. But once you get there youll be able to see some of the islands that make up the "Hundred Islands."

Too bad we couldnt stay another night cause we have plans for the next day. But the next time I come back to the Philippines I will definitely come back to that island again.

And here is my Dad enjoying getting soaked in the rain and is probably thinking about the 16 years it took to come back home and Im pretty sure hes getting pretty sad cause he's going back to the US in a few days and I dont blame him. Its pretty great out here.

Philippines: Day 10

Went to Bolinao (sp?) with the family. Went swimming at this place called "Rock Garden." You can walk a couple hundred feet out into the ocean and the water is still knee deep.

While swimming around a few of the local people saw us and invited us over their little floating boat thing and showed us some sea urchins. They were diving and getting some for us... to eat! At first I was pretty hesitant to try but did it anyways and I must say that it is really really good. Tastes kind of like oysters but a few times better.

Also saw a few starfishes crawling around.

and this little tiny jellyfish. There was a bigger one the size of my head I almost stepped on but I decided not to get it. I didnt want to risk getting stung.
And I finally got to try some street food. They called it here "isau-isau." My mom got kind of mad cause shes scared I was going to get sick and thankfully I didnt. Time to eat a whole lot more of these. Soooo good.

Later that night we drove over to this city called Sual to hop on this boat to take us across to this island where we were going to spend the night.

For dinner

The island at night was pretty cool. Swimming in warm water till midnight. BBQ-ing in the rain. Making bonfires. Telling stories. Reminded me a lot of LOST since all the lights were out. We were going to walk around the island at night but then we ended up getting chased by dogs and had to run into the water. haha.
